The trial of Steve Wright confirms how dangerous prostitution is but legalising it would do nothing to aid the plight of women involved

Following the example of Lord Longford, who established that, where sex is concerned, adjustments to British legislation should always be preceded by an inspection of foreign arrangements, Home Office minister Vernon Coaker toured various Stockholm addresses, investigating the impact of Sweden’s decision to criminalise men who pay for sex. Whether it was a question of thrift, or a natural reluctance on Mr Coaker’s part to re-enact highlights from Lord Longford’s Scandinavian excursion, the Swedish researches were completed in a day, which must barely have left time for the minister and his team, including Vera Baird and Barbara Follett, to ‘cooee’ up a few brothel stairs and reach the conclusion that, although some Swedish people think the scheme has worked, other Swedish people think not.
The next stop on the comparative prostitution tour will, I understand, be the Netherlands, where some people think it’s enlightened to have women eye-catchingly displayed as wares in shop windows, but other people don’t. After that, the itinerary is unclear, though it seems unlikely the ministers will get as far as New Zealand: a pity since the islands are currently advertised by pro-legalisers as sex-trade heaven, even better than Amsterdam, where accredited sex operatives now take genuine pride in their work and clients, too, are an example to all, their connoisseurship finally liberated from those doubts which, to judge by the statistics, still deter a number of British men from trying the wide range of reasonably priced goods on offer.
So long as stocks last. Coaker is on the case, Harriet Harman wants to penalise ‘the demand side’ and Denis MacShane has tabled a suitable amendment to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill, with the result that websites usually preoccupied with punters’ boasts and hints, are now home to agonised speculation about the effects of this triple attack. Would respectable brothels be affected by criminalisation? they wonder. Lap dancing? Strippers? Even their little bit of porn?

SAN DIEGO (TNA) – Ah, yes, Halloween. It’s that magical time of the year when pumpkins get smashed, apple cider gets spiked and priests have sex with butterflies and firemen hump mimes.

| If you’re lucky, your Halloween costume will be someone else’s sexual fantasy. |
More than any other holiday, Halloween gives people an excuse to morph into someone they’re not and kink it up a notch.
That’s what happened a few years back when Justin, a 29-year-old entertainment website content producer, took his girlfriend, Heather, to a private Halloween party in Moreno Valley, Calif.
The couple sported a pair of S&M outfits – black, tight and seemingly menacing – and perused the gathering throughout the night, sipping pumpkin punch and escaping to a bedroom a few times for a little freak-nasty.
But Halloween turned even hotter as the night progressed. At one point, Justin walked into a room to find his girlfriend chatting with a woman dressed as a nurse – a naughty nurse who was out to make everybody feel better.
“My girl went down on me, then the nurse joined her,” Justin said, adding that he then helped Heather reciprocate the favor by tasting nurse tuna.
Needless to say, before stroking it at midnight, Justin tagged his woman and gave the nurse an injection to remember. Read the rest of this entry »

Lube Jobs: A Woman’s Guide to Great Maintenance Sex is a book that addresses those issues about sex that involve a marriage when it drifts into boredom. The book, written by Don and Debra Macleod, believe that marriages are like cars and that they need maintenance once in a while.
“Most women experience ups and downs in their sexual attraction to their longtime partners but for many women in otherwise healthy relationships the ‘downs’ can be lifted with just a little effort,” the couple writes, as quoted in an AP release.
The couple is also the author of a 2004 book called The French Maid: And 21 More Naughty Sex Fantasies to Surprise and Arouse Your Man.

Prostitutes are to receive subsidised business classes. Like other self-employed people, they will pay tax and social security contributions. In exchange, they will gain the right to free healthcare and a pension.
It exceeded the wildest dreams of Agnes Foldi, head of the Hungarian Prostitutes’ Interest Group (MPEE), whose members have started attending courses in accountancy and business law. In April, the MPEE’s website was telling visitors it had received Ft15.2m in subsidies for providing commercial training for budding businesswomen. The 110 places available were several times oversubscribed.
One part of the story goes back to summer 2005 and an event in Pecs. Police asked several prostitutes for identity papers and, finding they had no official documents on them at all, reported them to the tax authorities - who then fined them for concealing earnings. The MPEE appealed this ruling in court, saying the New York Convention, which Hungary ratified in 1955, prohibits compiling a register of sex workers. Last year, however, Baranya County Court rejected the MPEE’s appeal, saying taxation did not constitute a formal list.

02 Aug 2007 (Sawf News) - Are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes planning to do a steamy photo shoot like their close friends David and Victoria Beckham’s raunchy spread for W.
Australia’s New Weekly magazine reports, a friend of the couple told, “They have already started planning some of the photos. One suggestion they were keen on was a shot of them posing together in the shower, dripping wet and covered by nothing but steam.”Cruise and Holmes, 28, have so far kept a wholesome family image in Hollywood but they also want to show off a more sensual side of their relationship.
“Tom and Katie really have amazing chemistry,” says the pal. “They want to show the world how much.”
The couple is in Berlin with their 15-month-old daughter Suri where Cruise, 45, is filming his latest movie Valkyrie.

The dark side of filthy street sex-trade became darker for a Francistown man who was hammered on the head with an iron bar after the alleged traders rejected his money offer.
Feeling jilted, the enraged and wounded 28-year old Molebi Mosugadikobo allegedly torched a house belonging to some Zimbabwean women believed to be prostitutes.
This week Mosugadikobo appeared before a Francistown Magistrates court. Although he was nabbed at the scene shortly after the crime, the young man pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mosugadikobo, whose apparent intentions was to have a fling with one of three Zimbabwean women on the fateful night, allegedly broke the door and forced his way in after the occupants refused to open for him. Suspicious that the intruder might be a thief, one of the women said she attacked Mosugadikobo with an iron bar on the head when he stepped in their rented Monarch house.

CULVER CITY, Calif.
THE scene, being filmed on a stuffy and intermittently noisy soundstage, involved lots of talking and lots of groping, as many of them do on the new, soon-to-be-controversial Showtime series “Californication.”
David Duchovny, as the occasionally unpleasant antihero of the show, a creatively blocked novelist named Hank Moody, was fully committed to the moment in spite of a real-life cold and a lozenge-coated throat. He and Amy Price-Francis, playing one of the many wrong-for-him sexual diversions who populate the story lines, were going at it in a full-on lip-locking kitchen-sink clinch.
“I love women,” Mr. Duchovny’s congenitally flippant character said after being accused of just using female partners to distract himself from his continuing writer’s block. “I have all their albums.”
“Cut,” said the director, Bart Freundlich, one of Mr. Duchovny’s closest friends, instructing the couple to disengage and start over. “There was a shadow on her head.”

What started out as a Las Vegas vacation for Britney Spears and her two sons turned to violence yesterday, according to police.Britney’s bodyguard, Cesar Julio Camera, 37, was issued a misdemeanor battery summons by the Las Vegas police department yesterday, following an alleged scuffle between him and two men trying to photograph Spears and her sons, 22-month-old Sean Preston Federline and 10-month-old Jayden James Federline, at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel-casino.
Camera was accused of pushing one of the men against a wall in the fracas, and grabbing and punching the other.
According to police, the the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 AM, when Andrew Deetz, 24, and Kyle Henderson, 23, approached Spears and her companions (which included Camera) in a hallway outside the hotel’s spa. A hotel security guard reportedly told the men to put their photo equipment away.

AN experimental sex lubricant designed by Australian researchers could help block both HIV and genital herpes, a study suggests.
Tests on lab animals have shown that the microbicide gel, called Viva Gel, inactivates the HIV virus and another responsible for genital herpes.
Lead researcher Dr Jeremy Paull from Melbourne-based pharmaceutical company Starpharma told the International AIDS Society conference in Sydney the gel would be used by heterosexual men who apply it directly to themselves before sex.

Is chaste the new sexy?..
2006 was the year of the raunch, when pole dancing went feminist and “empowerment” became synonymous with a baker’s dozen Jell-O shooters and a topless spot in Girl’s Gone Wild.
But if this year’s crop of “sexy” books is any guide, the backlash is now in full effect. Sure, Porn 2.0 is grabbing more viewers than ever. But with sex so commonplace, people, or at least publishers, are looking for what’s next.
This year’s sex-culture books feature virgins, men vacuuming and crafty sex toys. And, really, what’s less sexy than those?

The Bunny Book: How to Walk, Talk, Tease and Please Like a Playboy Bunny (Chronicle Books)
Sort of like a sexed-up version of The Rules, mixed with a little Swell, The Bunny Book eases you into Heffner-honed advice with sections on grooming, how to dress, and how to hold a drink before delving into the nitty-gritty sex stuff (anal and all). Though you might not want to take the tome out in public (considering the hot pink cover and candy-coloured pages), with illustrations by Annabelle Jasmin Verhoye, it’s fine for home-based consumption. The verbiage leaves something to be desired and features an overabundance of words like coochie, tushy and titties, but the advice itself is fairly realistic and not unlike anything you might find in a popular women’s mag. Think Cosmo. Believe it or not, Bunnies don’t like to weigh themselves, they’re big on safety, and they’re “hopeful about monogamy” even though they “don’t think people are naturally monogamous.” Most importantly, they’re down with personal choice.

Two entertainment Web sites set off fireworks on the Fourth of July with reports that Time Warner-owned New Line Cinema was finally moving ahead with Time Warner-owned HBO on the long-time-a-comin’ “Sex and the City” flick, about two years after the idea was hatched.
“Exclusive Major Sex and the City Movie News!” shrieked TVGuide.com, adding, “It’s the climax we were all hoping for,” and urging, nay begging, readers to post their “sure-to-be-orgasmic” reactions.
Trade paper Variety, meanwhile, vamped that New Line Cinema was “getting in bed with HBO” on the movie “after much foreplay.”
Word of the flick first broke in 2004, right around the time HBO was winding down its six-season-old series about the travails of Manhattan sex-advice columnist Carrie Bradshaw and her three BFFs.

In India, the land of the Kama Sutra — the timeless treatise on love — a ruckus has broken out over the marketing of a vibrating condom. Some politicians have declared it a sex toy, which should be banned as it goes against the country’s culture, while health officials are classifying it as a birth control device. The controversy was recently sparked when Kailash Vijayavargiya, minister in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accusing his coalition government of promoting sex toys and sex for pleasure.
The world famous erotic temples of Khajuraho, a big draw among tourists — both Indian and foreign — is located in Madhya Pradesh.
Vijayavargiya’s ire was raised against the sale of ribbed condoms that are fitted with a vibrating ring. He posited that condoms as a birth control method are fine, but objected to the noted ‘add-on.’
The sale of sex toys and pornography is banned in India.

Guitarist Coutts, 39, admits throttling the Reading-born teacher in 2003 but denies murder, claiming the death was an accident after a sex game went too far.
Former colleague Ruth Sinclair, who taught with Jane at Netherhall School in Cambridge, told an Old Bailey jury of hearing revelations about her friend’s sex life.

Bill sponsored by Rosie O’Donnell’s gay brother is unlikely to be heard by state Senate, meaning it won’t become law this year
ALBANY, N.Y. — New York’s state Assembly approved legislation to legalize same-sex marriage after an emotional three-hour debate, but the bill is not expected to be acted on any time soon in the Republican-led state Senate.
The legislation, sponsored by Democrat Daniel O’Donnell, the gay brother of entertainer Rosie O’Donnell and backed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer, was approved Tuesday, June 19, 85-61 in the Democratic Assembly.
“It was a monumental margin of victory,” O’Donnell told Dallas Voice on Thursday. “It’s a huge step. …

NEW YORK –

A woman arrested for exposing her breasts has accepted a $29,000 settlement from the city, her lawyer said.
Jill Coccaro, 27, was arrested on a topless stroll two years ago, despite a 1992 state appeals court ruling that concluded women should have the same right as men to take off their shirts.
Coccaro, who now goes by the name Phoenix Feeley, remained in custody for 12 hours before she was told prosecutors were not going to pursue charges.
Her attorney, Jeffrey Rothman, told the Daily News that his client won the civil rights settlement from the city, which did not admit or deny wrongdoing.
“We hope the police learn a lesson and respect the rights of women to go topless,” Rothman said.
Feeley told the New York Post that she was not treated well after her Aug. 4, 2005, arrest in Manhattan’s Lower East Side section. She claimed in an October lawsuit that a police officer yanked her out of a patrol car by her hair and police took her to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
She told the newspaper she had gone bare-breasted after running the 2004 city marathon without police bothering her.

A woman who ripped off her ex-boyfriend’s testicle with her bare hands has been sent to prison.
Amanda Monti, 24, flew into a rage when Geoffrey Jones, 37, rejected her advances at the end of a house party, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
She pulled off his left testicle and tried to swallow it, before spitting it out. A friend handed it back to Mr Jones saying: “That’s yours.”
Monti admitted wounding and was jailed for two-and-a-half years.
‘Pulled hard’
Sentencing Monti, Judge Charles James said it was “a very serious injury” and that Monti was not acting in self defence.
The court heard that Mr Jones had ended his long-term but “open relationship” with Monti towards the end of May last year.
The pair remained on good terms and on 30 May she picked him up from a party in Crosby and went back for drinks with friends at Mr Jones’s house.

Paris Hilton will end up serving more time behind bars than the vast majority of inmates sent to L.A. County Jail for similar offenses, according to a Times analysis of jail records. Whether Hilton received special treatment from the Sheriff’s Department has become the subject of much debate since Sheriff Lee Baca last week allowed the hotel heiress to go home after less than four full days in jail, despite a promise that she would serve 23 days of a 45-day sentence.
The Times analyzed 2 million jail releases and found 1,500 cases since July 2002 that — like Hilton’s — involved defendants who had been arrested for drunk driving and later sentenced to jail after a probation violation or driving without a license.

Paris Hilton will have a very unglamorous new address if prosecutors get their way: the Los Angeles County jail. The city attorney’s office filed documents in Superior Court recommending the hotel heiress and TV star be jailed for 45 days for violating terms of her probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction.
Prosecutors also want Hilton to stay away from alcohol for 90 days and wear a monitoring device that will chart whether she complies. And they are seeking to have her license suspended for an additional four months.
The recommendation will be reviewed by a judge when Hilton appears for a probation violation hearing on Friday. The judge can accept it or impose a different penalty. The maximum penalty is 90 days in jail.
City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said Hilton is being treated the same as anyone else.
“Anyone who would have conducted themselves in a way that resulted in this set of facts, we would have made the same recommendation of 45 days in county jail, regardless of whether they were a celebrity or not,” he said Thursday.

Bobby Brown is looking forward to life after Whitney Houston – though the two remain close because of their daughter, he tells PEOPLE.
“We’re trying to work everything out so the divorce goes right – not like a Hollywood divorce,” Brown said at Thursday’s annual Vanity Fair Amped concert in Hollywood. “We’re friends, you know. We’re friends.”
Brown, who is dad to Bobbi Kristina, 13, with Houston, added, “I’m really looking forward to her doing her thing, and me doing my thing. And that’s raising a child. It’s beautiful. Our child is beautiful.”
Houston filed for divorce from Brown in October after 14 years of marriage, and petitioned in December to fast-track the divorce. But the estranged couple shared a dinner together with Bobbi Kristina in West Hollywood on Feb. 11.
